LinkedIn SSI score: what it is and whether to track it
The LinkedIn SSI score, short for Social Selling Index, runs from 0 to 100 across four parts: professional brand, finding the right people, engaging with insights and building relationships. LinkedIn now says a high score does not always match sales results, and it publishes no target. Treat the score as a rough activity check, not a goal.
We read LinkedIn’s own SSI page on 9 October 2026 and checked each vendor figure below against the vendor’s guide. Vendor numbers are labelled as vendor claims.
LinkedIn weights the four parts equally. This table shows each part and its points.
| Part | Points | LinkedIn’s wording |
|---|---|---|
| Professional brand | 25 | Establish a professional brand |
| Finding the right people | 25 | Find the right prospects |
| Engaging with insights | 25 | Engage with key insights |
| Building relationships | 25 | Build relationships |
What does the LinkedIn SSI score measure?
LinkedIn describes the Social Selling Index as a score from 0 to 100 for how well a seller establishes a professional brand, finds the right prospects, engages with key insights and builds relationships on LinkedIn. It built the score as a benchmark for social selling, which means building relationships with prospects before you pitch (our guide). The 2015 post above says each of the four parts is worth 25 points. LinkedIn’s page says the score let members compare their efforts with others in their network.
Is the LinkedIn SSI score still worth tracking?
Probably not as a target, and LinkedIn says as much. Its SSI page says the score “no longer accurately reflects the modern sales environment.” It adds that “a high SSI score doesn’t always represent the efficacy of a sales person or correlate with measurable sales outcomes,” and that the effort to raise it can distract from closing deals. The page still links to “Get your SSI score”, so the score has not been removed.
Read that page with one fact in mind: it sits on the Sales Navigator site and recommends Sales Navigator’s AI tools instead. In our view the useful part is the point about outcomes. Track what you control and can count: conversations you started, replies that led to a next step, and meetings booked. LinkedIn’s own suggestion is closed-won deals per rep each quarter or year. For the wider routine, see our LinkedIn prospecting guide.
How do you check your LinkedIn SSI score?
LinkedIn links its score at linkedin.com/sales/ssi. Open it while signed in to LinkedIn. Opened signed out, the page showed only a “Sales Navigator” heading on 9 October 2026. We did not view the dashboard signed in, and the LinkedIn pages we read do not say which accounts can see it or what it shows. We do not describe it here for that reason.
What is a good LinkedIn SSI score?
LinkedIn does not publish a target on the pages we read. Vendor guides do, and they disagree. This table shows the figures four vendors give, each read on 9 October 2026. They are the vendors’ own claims, not LinkedIn’s.
| Source | What it says | Kind |
|---|---|---|
| Breakcold | A good score is above 75. The average user is between 40 and 50. | Vendor guide |
| La Growth Machine | Above 75 is the top 10%. Above 85 is the top 1% to 2%. | Vendor guide |
| Overloop | Above 70 is strong. 50 to 70 is solid. Below 40 means a part needs work. | Vendor guide |
| Linked API | Reports that LinkedIn called anything above 70 high and below 30 weak in 2017. We could not find that LinkedIn page. | Vendor guide, quote unverified |
The same score of 75 is the top 1% in one guide and the top 10% in another. We do not know of an official average, so we do not give one. If you want a number to aim at, watch the trend in your own score over time, and measure results next to it.
How do you improve your LinkedIn SSI score?
Work on the sales habit each part names. LinkedIn’s pages do not list which actions each part counts, so this is our advice for selling better on LinkedIn, not a way to move the number.
- Professional brand: make your profile say who you help and with what, in the first lines a buyer reads.
- Finding the right people: search for a buyer profile you have defined and save the people you will contact, instead of browsing.
- Engaging with insights: comment on what a prospect posted with something specific, and share material your buyers could use.
- Building relationships: connect with people you have a reason to speak to, and say why in the note (connection message examples).
Per LinkedIn, a higher score is not a sales outcome. Judge the habits by the conversations they start.
An AI Sales Brief starts where the score ends
The SSI score rates your activity on LinkedIn. It says nothing about what a prospect told you. PortifyLead does not read or change your SSI score. When you have had a LinkedIn conversation with a prospect, an AI Sales Brief organises it into an editable summary. Fields the conversation does not support are marked “Not detected”, and inferred values are labelled “Inferred by AI”. You review the brief before it is saved to your chosen integration. A brief needs a conversation. Contact capture does not.
Questions
What is the LinkedIn Social Selling Index?
It is a 0 to 100 score LinkedIn built to measure how effectively a seller uses LinkedIn across four parts: professional brand, finding the right prospects, engaging with insights and building relationships.
What is a good LinkedIn SSI score?
LinkedIn publishes no target on the pages we read. Vendor guides give figures from 70 to 75 and they disagree on what those figures mean, so treat them as vendor rules of thumb.
Has LinkedIn retired the SSI score?
Not on the page we read. On 9 October 2026 LinkedIn’s SSI page still linked to the score while saying it no longer reflects the modern sales environment.
Does a higher SSI score mean more sales?
LinkedIn says not necessarily. Its page says a high score does not always correlate with measurable sales outcomes.
How do I raise my SSI score?
Improve the habits behind the four parts: a clear profile, a defined search, specific comments and connections you have a reason to make. LinkedIn does not list what each part counts, so we cannot promise a score change.
